IDE does work in Kalyway so Yes. The only thing is that it doesn't support booting from IDE DVD drives, but since you have a SATA DVD drive it shouldn't be a problem.

I would buy second SATA disk if you didn't answer me. So thank you for fast answer.

I don't know why I can't boot my Hackintosh. If I try boot, I see only whit cursor on black background. I have installed MacOSX (Kalyway 10.5.1). When I press F8 during boot DVD, there aren't this disk on the list boot devices. I see IDE disk in installer, can install MacOSX (MBR) but I don't see this disk in "Startup Disk"

Do you know why? Could you help me?

MDW

NO kalyway was no sussess either, but the install looked a lot nicer i must admit...

I'll try installing it on a different disc in stead of a different partition...

- If i'm correct i will be able to use MBR in that case ( is MBR better compatible with Vista?)

greets

Thank you very much pcwiz for this great tutorial.

I tried several times to install iAKTOS Leopard with no success. Then I got a copy of Kalyway and were fortunate to find your tutorial. I had three failing attempts to install it but finally it is installed smoothly on my laptop with the upadates too.

MDW2,

Did you format and partition as HFS+ and try MBR instead of GUID with only EFI and vanilla options and nothing else?

tripkip,

If you are installing to a different drive MBR will work fine (thats what I used) :D

Hilaly,

You're welcome, no problem :D

Hello and thanks for the guide. I was stumbling around with the included Kalyway doc.

I'm an old Amiga guy and I have been doing lots of PC stuff since. I have my own little server farm, 20+ machines. I have a few real Macs, but this was my first go at a Hackintosh.

By the way, I had no problems at all booting form an IDE DVD on this system. Specs are in my sig.

I might try this on one of my laptops next. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks Again!

Mad Professor,

Cool, glad you got it working and with an IDE drive! :thumbsdown_anim:

alamoa,

Sure, what kind of Terminal commands? Some of the basics (installing kexts and kernels) are covered in my Newbies FAQ to OSx86 (stickied in Tutorials forum).

Yea. I'm having the same problem here.

In my machine i have 2 SATA hard disk and 1 blank IDE hard disk

SATA1 has 2 partitions and 1 of it is my Windows boot partition. Both are NTFS filesystem.

SATA2 has 3 partitions and all formatted with NTFS.

IDE hard disk was just added and it is blank (No partitions).

When I attempt to install Kalyway, the Disk Utility detected the 2 SATA hard disk and not the IDE hard disk. Anyone have a solution? I also tried to use the Terminal to locate my disk but when I open the Terminal, my keyboard just doesn't work at all. (Microsoft keyboard). Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi,

I've made a 5 page documentation for the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD that explains all the preinstallation, installation, and post installation process. I don't have the DVD myself but I have an accurate enough representation to make the documentation. Main source was the Kalyway release thread but I did add a lot of bits of my own :D It explains clearly for any n00bs that plan on using it :P

The 44kb PDF is attached and I hope you find it useful. Please take a look and tell me what you think, before I zip it up and release it to the whole wide public :)

Changelog:

KalywayDOCSV3 (new file attached)

  • Added a big note at the top in bold that the Kalyway DVD takes a long time to boot

KalywayDOCSV2 (new file attached)

  • Added a couple lines on how to Repair Permissions

I follow these spteps from pdf's and my OSX Leopard installed but i can not boot without DVD inside, how can i make it boot itself
