themacmeister
I must admit that I did not read the previous 108 pages of posts. I have installed every release of OSX86 from the original disk image 10.4.1, through to Uphuck 10.4.9 and Kalyway 10.4.10 (all successfully). It appears as tho this is the first OSX86 I cannot boot up. I have a 3.06GHz SSE2 P4 Dell Optiplex GX260 with a GeForce 7600GT (AGP) and ATAPI/IDE DVD Burner. I cannot seem to get to the GUI install screen. At the very final point before the GUI appears, the computer does a forced (instant) reboot. I tried typing vanilla at the F8 boot screen, but I have read that is only Core Duo. I have the same symptom when doing a default boot as well. Has anyone else had similar symptoms, and if so, how did you overcome it? I understand that VMWare and others can emulate SSE3 etc., so that may be an option to get a disk image. I would rather do the install from the DVD, to a blank hard disk - it is just a matter of loading/unloading kexts perhaps. Many thanks for any help at all... PS. I may be able to use a Celeron D SSE3 machine to install to HDD, but I need to know it will work when I replace it in my SSE2 machine EDIT: I am downloading iATKOS v1.0r2, in the vain hope that it solves my reboot loop problem (there are reports of some success elsewhere). riiga
I have the same problem. I've tried every possible command at boot but it won't work. Just before the reboot some text about EFI flashes for about 0.5 seconds. JaS 10.4.6 and 10.4.8 works fine for me. Specs: P4 3.0 GHz (HT) ATi Radeon 9600 Pro (256 MB/AGP) All IDE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88807-first-osx86-that-wont-work-4-me/#findComment-634252 Share on other sites
themacmeister
I downloaded and installed iATKOS 1.0r2. Booted and installed no problem (MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL X86 Darwin Boot Loader!!!) Worked nicely with NVInject from installer, bit no QE/CI (software CI and OpenGL) Failed miserably with Natit with black screen/cursor only. Will try some workarounds, because it looks pretty fast and stable (from the small time I have used it). Cheers! themacmeister
I must admit that I have never had QE/CI working with 10.5.1. Even with 10.5.2 GeForce Kexts, and 10.5.2 OpenGL Framework. I always get the black screen with cursor. (using AGP GeForce 7600GT). Any suggestions? themacmeister
I got it working!!! I needed to replace with 10.5.2 GeForce kexts, restart into single user, delete /System/Library/Extensions.mkext replace with 10.5.2 OpenGL.Framework, restart single user, delete Extensions.mkext add Natit/NVinject/Titan, edit Natit/NVInject/Titan kext and leave only hardware IDVendorID (in my case 0x023010de) and remove the silly hex string after it. Do the same with GeForce.kext, NVDANV40.kext - no need to edit NVDANRESMAN... Remember to leave only the Hardware ID Vendor ID, and remove anything afterwards (&amdFFF0FFFF) or whatever it happens to be. I believe NVInject has the least noticable black screen pause during startup, although Natit is only a 1-2 sec pause. restart single user, remove Extensions.mkext and restart - it should all be working. NOTE: This WILL NOT WORK with ANY of the supplied AGPGART kexts. This will incorrectly state your graphics card is PCI, but it will work just the same. I have had the same OpenGL hardware compatibility as with 10.4.8, 10.4.9 and 10.4.10. Hope this helps some people. The files mentioned are available online, usually thru rapidshare etc. There might be some links on the WIKI.
