ScottAlpert
do i just change the power management or do i need to do somthing with the power source....i have iatkos with 10.5.2 with the vanilla kernel Nothing to do with the source, just use the bundle. Just try it first, then post back your results. I have the same iAtkos install on my notebook, and following the instructions i listed here, gave me back my battery meter, so I know it works. EnVmyZ
You need to install iATKOS like this with vanilla kernal without Stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext or patched kernal with Stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext You can not install both vanilla kernel and Stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext There is a post over on the uphuck forums about this. I'm running iATKOSv1r2 updated to 10.5.2 with working battery meter. Has nothing to do with powermanagement bundle Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88359-can-someone-clarify-power-management-to-me/#findComment-632535 Share on other sites

iwantsound44
when i update to 10.5.2 my battery thing goes away...i used iatkos without installing the stock kernels..i updated by kalyway and i used the vanilla kernel by kalyway..do i need to copy my old apple acpi kext to the new update Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88359-can-someone-clarify-power-management-to-me/#findComment-632677 Share on other sites
EnVmyZ
You will need to extract the one off the iATKOS dvd. Remember stock kernel = non stock acpi You had, non stock kernel - stock acpi?? so when you upgraded it went stock kernel = stock acpi Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88359-can-someone-clarify-power-management-to-me/#findComment-632740 Share on other sites
iwantsound44
first of all thank you very much for helping me second of all tell me exactly what to do like how to install iatkos the right way and how to upgrade to 10.5.2 and upgrade to the 10.5.2 vanilla kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88359-can-someone-clarify-power-management-to-me/#findComment-632754 Share on other sites
EnVmyZ
Well do you mind if you loose what you have installed? If not, format drive like before, then customize install select EFI boot (the drop down arrow, there are three items, not sure what they all are since im at work doing this from memory but make sure the stock appleacpiplatform.kext is UNCHECKED) Under patches, install Natit AppleSMBIOS.kext and the option to remove thermal kext. And any other kexts that you need for your hardware. Be sure to install the Stock kernel this time. Once this is done, you "should" have your battery meter up and running. Install the kalyway 10.5.2 update. You "should" still have the battery icon. If you don't want to loose everything, and Im not 100% sure this will work Download Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/Pacifist.dmg Be sure the have your iATKOS dvd installed Once open, select open packages The top package is the main system package, in there you will find -System --Library ---Extentions ----AppleACPIPlatform.kext You can place a check next this, click "install" on the top left hand side, install with admin priv. type password and click continue. This should install the non stock AppleACPI (since you are now running 10.5.2 with stock kernel right?) so non stock AppleACPI + stock kernel = battery meter Reboot computer and keep your fingers crossed. If the above doen't work, I know for sure the top one will!
