thegodfaza
I recently upgraded my video card from a nVidia 6800GS to a xfx nVidia 7600GT AGP. I didn't get any video so I tried nvinject again and it didn't fix it. I tried editing the nvinject file and adding my device ID which also didn't help. Anyone have this card working? zarac
i have gainward 7600gt agp with 256mb ram - working perfectly (in tiger). use NV40 install option with most tiger distributions - contains modded nvidia kexts, titan and agpgart. for leopard i downloaded modded nvidia kexts (couldn't find the link right now) and added nvinject (titan or natit will work too). maybe these links should help you with enabling qe/ci on leopard: How to get your Nvidia card working in Leopard! LEOPARD 10.5.1 ON AMD AND NVIDIA 6800 TUTORIAL looks like you'll have to insert your device and vendor ids into appropriate nvidia kexts (not into nvinject). also, you should know that agpgart for leopard is not ready yet, so even though qe/ci is enabled, leopard will recognise your card as pci. check this page for info on different bus speeds you'll notice a 16X max speed difference between pci (133.33 MB/s) and agp8x (2133 MB/s). so keep your fingers crossed and pray that Slice and others from THIS topic develop a working AGPGart.kext for leo. thegodfaza
OK. I got it working WITH agp. Now all that doesn't work is QE. Any thoughts?
zarac
how did you manage that? what version of agpgart are you using? is it lite version? if it is, then agp is just cosmetic, not providing acceleration. btw, your CI is not enabled either - it needs to say "Hardware accelerated", not "Software" have you tried installing pc-efi? maybe some graphic string helps you out. thegodfaza
I pulled the AGP gart driver from _Tub_Girl_'s 10.4.10 release because it worked before on my old card. With full AGP support. P.S:If you noticed I am running AMD so efi won't work.
zarac
efi does work on amd - you just cannot use vanilla kernels with it. graphic, audio and other strings are available. it is really strange this agpgart (joblo's v2.1) works on your leopard. i have the same chipset and same gfx card like you, but it won't work. actually, you are the first user who reported AGPGart.kext working in leo. did you copy over any other files from Tubgirl's release? could you please provide dsmeg and ioreg from within your working leo? open terminal, type sudo -s followed by your password, and then: ioreg -l -x -w 1024 >ioreg_thegodfaza.txt dmesg >dmesg_thegodfaza.txt it could help creating an universal AGPGart for leo. upload them here, please. as for your QE/CI problem, this archive helped me getting it: http://rapidshare.com/files/72992251/leo_vid_kexts.zip.html
thegodfaza
actually, you are the first user who reported AGPGart.kext working in leo. I'll upload the grep later when I am back on Leo. I was actually supprised by that. I never noticed it didn't work for anyone else. Worked for me on day one with my 6800GS. That DVD was a custom made one that I made from a vanilla Leo disk and the Tub Girl install. Go Figure.
thegodfaza
Here you go. I am having trouble uploading the ioreg output. I will keep trying. dmesg_content.txt ioreg_content.txt
thegodfaza
That archive made things worse. Luckly I backed up my kexts so I restored it. Any other suggestions. P.S: I changed the device ID's in them(the archive) to match my card.
