X86-1138
Hi All, I just built a system and here are the parts I've used, just note that I've searched just about every site for compatable hard ware and all of the components I've used were claimed to work natively with OS X x86. Part list: MSI 865PE NEO2-PFS Socket 478 Motherboard Pioneer DVR-110DBK Black 16X DVD Burner OEM/Softwr Intel Celeron 340 2.93Ghz 533FSB Socket 478 PS Keyboard/Mouse ATI 9600 AGP Video Card 1 GB of Ram I've been a Mac user for the past 6 years, and thought this would be a fun project to tinker with. If any one has been able to use this particular MB from MSI, how do I setup the BIOs to get OS X to install natively? I keep getting a debugger error when I enter -v or -s, and when I just hit enter or -x it starts to load and then I get a panic that tells me to "Restart my computer , blah, blah, blah. So I tried different settings in the BIOs, less errors listed through the -v option, but still a debugger error, and "Restart" screen through other options. I'm using the correct DVD with the Jas Patch, what else could be blocking my ability to install. After I patch the ISO should I correct the Disk Permissions, then burn it to a DVD? If I us VMWare can I get OS X x86 to run natively afterwards? X86-1138
Amazondani, Yea, I've disable the USB legacy support, and still get the "Restart" Haven't tried installing with VMWare yet. As in my last post I am exclusivly a Mac User. I guess I'm going to have to Install a second drive into my PC box and install Windows on it, then try VMWare. Does any one know if VMWare would work through Virtual PC? X86-1138
Unstable Connection, I didn't check the md5s of the ISO. Do I do this before I patch with Jas Patch, or after. I aquired a copy of the "macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg", then pached it with Jas Patch. I didn't check the md5s, since most of the posts using this disc image had no problems. I assumed that this particular ISO was with out errors and simply patched it. The Patch application said that the ISO had been successfully patched, so I thought it was without errors. Are there different versions of this ISO? Can I check the md5s on a Mac and how? oZen
Hi ! With the JaS Patch you have a program to check: "PPF-O-Maticv30.dmg.gz" Before you run it you'll have to create a file with: 3665735d1b651b5a4ad15ca59ab40142 inside, and then rename that file like this: name of the image (with its own extension) + md5 extension, like this: macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg.md5 And you check your image (the dmg one, not iso) with that file. and that's ok Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8789-built-a-system-x86-wont-install-native/#findComment-54711 Share on other sites
pflatline
Your hardware should work. I have it running on a Matsonic 865PE board and it runs great. MyDVD-R is a Pioneer A-05 drive. I am assuming your using a P-ATA hard disk. Check to make sure your hard disk is on the first channel and set for master NOT set for cable select. Set your DVD to master as well, and put it on the second channel. Disable the serial ATA in the bios. This is the configuration that I am running. X86-1138
Thank's for all of the suggestions. I was able to install Natively after this post. See my last post: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=8825 Not sure if anyone else has tried installing this way, but it worked great for me.
