drq123
Hi, I'm having trouble figuring out how many cores are activated. Ihave AMD turion 64 X2 @ 1.6 System propfiles names total number of cores=1 output from sysctl: hw.ncpu = 2 hw.cpufrequency = 1600000000 hw.availcpu = 2 hw.ncpu: 2 hw.activecpu: 2 hw.physicalcpu: 1 hw.physicalcpu_max: 1 hw.logicalcpu: 2 hw.logicalcpu_max: 2 hw.cputype: 7 hw.cpusubtype: 4 hw.cpufamily: 0 hw.cpufrequency: 1600000000 hw.cpufrequency_min: 1600000000 hw.cpufrequency_max: 1600000000 hw.cputhreadtype: 1 machdep.cpu.vendor: AuthenticAMD machdep.cpu.brand_string: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 machdep.cpu.model_string: Unknown AMD-64 machdep.cpu.family: 15 machdep.cpu.model: 8 machdep.cpu.extmodel: 4 machdep.cpu.extfamily: 0 machdep.cpu.feature_bits: 395049983 8193 machdep.cpu.extfeature_bits: -338428929 31 machdep.cpu.stepping: 2 machdep.cpu.signature: 266114 machdep.cpu.brand: 0 machdep.cpu.features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 HTT SSE3 CX16 machdep.cpu.extfeatures: SYSCALL XD EM64T machdep.cpu.logical_per_package: 2 machdep.cpu.cores_per_package: 1 please answer only if you are 100% sure I know in sysctl it says 2 cores but it seems complicated...maybe sysctl is reporting this and then one core is turned off? My system is kinda slow... thanks in advance aris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87709-one-or-two-cores/ Share on other sites
zarac
its quite simple. open activity monitor, and if you see two graphs in "cpu usage" your hackintosh works with two cores. drq123
Thanks for the interest but please i need more help. Activity monitor shows only one cpu, but as you see sysctl sais: hw.activecpu=2 this is important to me because i spent a week configuring my osx86 in order to try/buy logic pro, which would not ever run on only one cpu... can activity monitor be wrong? anyone else with amd turion 64x2?? thanks in advance aris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87709-one-or-two-cores/#findComment-625179 Share on other sites
