Hi there,

the reason for my first post is that I'm stuck in the installation process and I can't find the right solution for it.

I'm trying to install Leopard (Zephirot Max OS X 10.5.1) on my AMD system.

This is my hardware:

AMD Semperon 3200+ (AM2) on AM2NF6G-VSTA mainboard with integrated Nvidia GeForce6-class graphics (shared memory), integrated Sound and LAN

512 MB Ram DDRII 667 (1*512)

40 GB HDD Siemens-Fujitsu (IDE/ Notebook-Size)

There is only one partiton on the HDD which I completely erased and formatted to Mac (journaled).

When I start the installation everything works fine until the very end of the installation process. Then the installation freezes - the remaining time keeps at less than one minute.

Which could be the reason for that freeze?

Thanks for your help,

I know that in the Zephiroth wiki, it states to reboot and try installing again. Do not format. It will go to where you left off and attempt to copy the remaining files. I haven't tried this, but that is what I read on the wiki.

Yup. Happens to nearly everyone. When it stalls, hit the RESET button or hold the Power Button down for 4-5 seconds and restart the computer. Boot from the DVD again, don't do anything except click the buttons to get the Installer going again - installing to the same drive and partition you did at first.

Usually the install will go MUCH faster (4 or 5 minutes maybe...) and it'll just finish up installing the few files it missed.

It's never taken me more than one restart and reinstall. If it takes you more than a couple of tries, you may be SOL - (it'll take more research and effort to get a working install)

Remember: OS X wasn't built for PC's - and definately NOT AMD PC's... Sorry, but it doesn't always work on ALL hardware!

Well... I tried to resume the installation, however, it did not work out for me. Unfortunately I can't install Leopard on my AMD system.

That's not to bad for me, because I only wanted to "play" a bit with Leopard.

Thanks to all who tried to help me :)

I had the same trouble all bank holiday weekend.

Installation stopped at the very end with 1 minute to go. Tried about 20 times.

I ended up completely erasing the hard drive and still the install froze at the end.

Eventually through shear desperation I unplugged everything connected to the mac except the keyboard and it loaded straight away.

This thread is the only one I could find on the net that seemed to be discussing this exact issue.

I hope this helps someone else out there.

Best regards
Steve :)
