FDnCRed
After not following the right instructions and just updating from Apple via the software update applet I find that I'm unable to login. I was previously using auto login. Now it comes up to the prompt to choose a user and login. I remember my user and password luckily but when I enter them it initially logs in and then pukes back out to the login screen again. No matter what i try i cannot get logged in for more than 2-3 seconds. Not sure why. Any advice?
eberts
Hi, I had exactly the same problem today. Luckily, I had another drive with leopard so I could compare what has changed by the update (in single mode). It's rather difficult but I mananged to log in and to update again. Try single mode, check hard drive, mount read/write and do an update_dyld_shared_cache and see if you get errors. I restored the reported folders from the other drive and did the update_dyld_shared_cache again. After that I was able to login again. Maybe it's easier to just reinstall and restore from time machine backup.
