Hey,

I have P5K running Kaly. Everything is great. Now as many of you may know this board has ICH9 and for some weird reason ASUS dropped AHCI support on it. Apparently I have one of the bad "new" P5K's which are incompatible with old P5K BIOS'es which support AHCI. Even though I am running 2GB RAM, I am still occasionally experiencing GSODs when doing extensive file manipulations, which I think is related to my SATA running in IDE mode.

Now my question is, if I replace P5K with say P5K-E WiFi Deluxe (which has ICH9R and has AHCI mode) will I have to reinstall my OS X? Boards are virtually the same.

If not, can anyone give me some advice on a possible new P35 board in sub 200$ range. So far I am thinking about P5K-E WiFi Deluxe or GA-P35-DS3P.

Also does anyone know how compatible are X38 boards with 10.5?

Thanks in advance!

I had a P5K-E WiFi for a while but it was an open box from Newegg and I had some problems. However, I did install OSX on it but not using Kalyway, I ended up using hybrid kalyway and uphuck r2. For some reason, I couldn't boot with just kalyway or uphuck. So I installed Kalyway, then booted into the uphuck install disk, deleted all the files but not the (boot system I guess) then installed Uphuck without the boot system. Sorry, it was a while ago and I'm still so new to this I don't know all the correct terms. Plus some guy on the Uphuck forums gave me all these tips but I can't access their forum anymore to retrieve that message. Anyway, the install worked BUT the Jmicron controllers were a pain in the A.

Since then I've bought a P5W board and my install is nearly perfect. Only problem being with Sleep. Its an older board but very compatible with OSx86

Good luck!
