AlexeySob
Hello guys, I'd really like to buy micro-ATX motherboard for perfect Leopard installation. I will use firewire, built-in sound, ethernet (I will not use Wi-Fi, built-in graphics). Can you give me advice about what exactly motherboard is the best here? Also, I will use it with new Core 2 Duo E8400 and I will overclock it, so if I have choice, I'd like to choose motherboard which has better overclock options. Any help will be appreciated. AlexeySob
new P5E-VM HDMI is a good choice for Leopard http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73046 Sok5 Thanks for advice. I wouldn't call this mb perfect as I will need to install some kexts, it's not good for OC (I will overclock CPU), Lan doesn't work. I'd really like to have mb which will work out of the box (or maybe with few kexts) as it will be my first hackintosh. I wonder, is there a better solution? aqua-mac
Have a look at this, you will have to instal a few kexts, but lan, audio, everything works. Full overclocking suite too. AlexeySob
Thanks for advice aqua. Actually, I wanted to buy this MB about 5 months ago, but now it's old. It doesn't matter, but does it support new CPU e8400 and it's FSB (1333)? aqua-mac
HI, Yes it will support wolfdale e8400 series with a bios flash - dead easy on these boards. FSB is 1333. AlexeySob
Hi. Thanks for the link. I never did good OC, but I'd like to overclock e8400, because people say it's possible to overclock it up to 4.4 GHz even without water cooling. I've asked in forum and people say it's really depends on memory's speed. It looks like this MB with only work with 800 MHz memory: 1. Supports DDR2 1066(OC)/800/667 memory I wonder, will this limit CPU's overclocking?
