tomw889
Hi, im new here so please be kind...... Comp Specs: Motherboard: MSI P965 Platinum, i updated the bios but not much help.... CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (overclocked to 3010.6 MHz , with a huge cooler) RAM: 3GB DDR2 DVD: Pioneer DVD/RW SATA (also a LG DVD/RW, however IDE ) HDD: WD 500GB SATA (also a seagate 320GB SATA but the WD is the only one pluged in) Graffics Card: MSI Nvidia 7600GT 256MB PSU: 500W If you would like to know any other specs, just ask Well here is my issue, When i use the Kalyway DVD it begins booting Darwin X86 and then when it finishes (or gets stuck) it simply reboots and we have the same situation all over again, a reboot cycle With the Iatkos DVD it begins the Darwin X86 and quite quickly goes to the greay screen with the Mac logo and the loading symbol beneath it, however it just stays there for ever and never boots further about 10 mins ago i tryed with the Kalyway DVD again and i got the: "System config file '/com.apple.boot.plist' not found" BUT i have been past this point many time before as that is why i purchased the SATA DVD drive!! and now its back to this! Any help would be GREATLY apreaciated Thank You, Tom Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86273-weird-boot-problems-with-both-distrobutions/ Share on other sites
mister_doodi
Ah yes the flash at the grey screen, I'm kinda stuck on that one too with kalyway 10.5.1 but I think I have a solution and I'm gonna test it out tomorrow. You should go into -V mode and tel us what it says. aliab
Hi How did you burn your install DVD ? DVD-R or RW ? (rw is not working most of the time) Could you eventually burn it on a mac with Disk Utility? have you an option to AHCI in the bios? ich8 and 965 chipset is very compatible with Leopard i have got a 100% working system (better than my P35_DS3P) with an Intel DQ965gf and 7600GT Sparkle As you have a LG ide dvd you also may try to put in a external usb box and boot from after told the bios to boot first on (if you've got the option) last recomendation if you are new : do not manage with partition use a entire disk for macosx and unplug all others windows disks before install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86273-weird-boot-problems-with-both-distrobutions/#findComment-612422 Share on other sites
xiberia
yeah, I had this issue (not with the same hardware though). What I did was a bit fiddly: I booted into Tiger, and used CC-Cloner to copy the Kalway disk onto a spare hard-drive. Then booted from that hard-drive, installed on my main drive, and it all worked. The problem is that the Leo distros are very picky about DVD drives. Work fine from IDE hard-drives though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86273-weird-boot-problems-with-both-distrobutions/#findComment-612442 Share on other sites
