Ben Eyre
Just wondering if this would make a SATA workaround for OSX X86, a sonnet, 2port SATA PCI Card, for mac's i am assumeing it would work with OSX X86 Sonnet's Tempo Serial ATA PCI adapter card enables you to connect the latest Serial ATA (SATA) and parallel* hard drives to your older Macintosh computer. Take advantage of the higher data transfer rates and improved cabling performance that SATA offers. Watch your data fly at up to 1.5 Gbps without sacrificing integrity! Just install this card into your PCI slot and make the switch to Serial ATA. Now what could be easier? Sonnet Technologies is the leader in Macintosh upgrade products. DrJägermeister
Watch your data fly at up to 1.5 Gbps without sacrificing integrity! 1.5 Gbps, is just utopia for actual SATA drives Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8600-sata-workaround/#findComment-53403 Share on other sites
sigxcpu
why is that? it's a synchronous interface afaik, so it has 1.5Gbps between the controller and the drive. and it sais "up to 1.5Gbps" meaning that is the top speed of the interface. Did you see 320MBps with U320 SCSI? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8600-sata-workaround/#findComment-53405 Share on other sites

Did you see 320MBps with U320 SCSI? OK, you are right that's the speed of the interface I was just saying that this speed will never be reached and the publicity is a little bit confusing "Take advantage of the higher data transfer rates....watch your data fly at up to 1.5 Gbps" so that maybe someone can think this is really possible with a standart SATA drive and this card. That is the manufacterus infomation, and not something i am clameing, i asked if this would fix SATA problems for ppl with Nforce 3/4 Boards, ie pop this card in and osx will reconise a sata drive, basicly thats what i want to know because if it can i can then goto sata rather than PATA Ben Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8600-sata-workaround/#findComment-53420 Share on other sites
