DevSonX86
Hi everybody, I have an Packard Bell EasyNote MX36 notebook. I was never succesfull with installing OSX86 on my notebook, but thanks to the new Leopard 10.5.1 Kalyway DVD I was succesfull to install Leopard on my laptop. Everything works: -Sound -Lan -Wireless -USB except the DVD drive, I used an external DVD drive to install OSX. Now I have an Ati Radeon Xpress 1100 videocard, but OSX recognizes it as an Ati Xpress 200m. I know some people got resolution changing working in OSX Tiger. Mostly 10.4.8 JaS. Because of the 8.8.1 kernel. I tried al those methods on Leopard but it doesn't seem to work. There was something with Callisto 003, and Callisto 003 (fixed) and Katana. I tried to use the AtiRadeon9700 patch or something, cant really remember. Also tried forced graphics mode : "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32" Please someone help me getting the 1280x800 resolution instead of 1024x768. I know its possible on the Xpress 1100 onboard graphics card. -SkG-
Open terminal. sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/CallistoHAL.kest/Contents/Info.plist Search "<key>IOPCIMatch</key>" and the next "<string>0x.....</string>" delete 0x... and put 0x5a621002 Control + X and then Y touch /System/Library/Extensions/ Reboot. DevSonX86
I already added my Device ID to CallistoHAL.kext. 0x5a621002.. I also did all the terminal commands and renew the Extensions.kext. diskutil repairpermissions / But after restart Leopard doesn't seem to load my CallistoHAL.kext. I did a clean Tiger 10.4.8 JaS install on a seperate harddrive and with external DVD drive. In Tiger I can use the CallistoHAL, and I can change my resolution to 1280x800. But ofcourse without QE/CE. Leopard also seems to have other commands in Terminal, because in Tiger I get different responses with things like : sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache then diskutil repairpermissions / then restart and VOILA... But that's in Tiger. But thanks for your comment! Any help and tips are welcome. simphax
There is a program for Mac OS X that can set custom resolutions. It's called SwitchResX an you can get it from here Maybe it can help you. DevSonX86
sorry for the late post, but SwitchResX doesn't work. When I choose the resolution I want, and reboot, it says that the chosen resolution should work but it doesn't. I also created custom settings for my resolution but they don't work either. But Simphax thanks for the comment. I'm still stuck on 1024x768. simphax
Ok, now i have installed a kalyway leopard installation on my laptop with xpress 1100. This is how i did: 1. Download Callisto 003 (fixed) from here 2. Extract it to the exact folder as in the instructions (~/Desktop/Callisto_latest) (in that way, you do not have to think about changing any commands that is in the installation readme) 3. Open installation.html 4. Follow the steps 1-6, but then instead of using the terminal for editing the info.plist you open it with finder and texteditor. (I think it is easier). 5. Only replace the 4150 numbers with your own (5a62) ( 6. optional: I don't know what step 9 is for. But read through it and do it if you need to. I didn't ) 7. Follow the steps 10-21, and you're done! restart Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85908-ati-xpress-200m1100-video-kalyway-1051/#findComment-735989 Share on other sites
DevSonX86
well, i stopped using osx because of the video issue. But tonight i'll give it a try again with the callisto 003 fix. If I have any succes i'll let you guys know. ( even without succes i'll let you know ) I have already tried the callisto 003 fix in the past. It did detect my graphics card but after the osx boot screen my screen got white with artifacts all over it. The only thing that keeps me from re-trying all the time, is that everytime when something goes wrong, i screw up my osx installation and i have to start all over again..very annoying. sometimes i forget to look at this topic, so it's not always up-to-date. if you guys have any tips please send them to : sonny@live.nl or just add me on MSN. thanks!
