  1. Snow Leopard Intel GMA950 Sony Vaio VPCW12S1E / PCG-4V1M

Hi Guys, Just updated my post. Today i've tried iATKOS v7 with SUCCES. Read more above for instructions. Now i'm going to give Snow Leopard another try.
  2. Snow Leopard Intel GMA950 Sony Vaio VPCW12S1E / PCG-4V1M

UPDATE: I think i'll start from the beginning again. I'm going to install iATKOS v7 10.5.7 Leopard, and search for differences in files. I'm also going to do another VBIOS dump from within Leopard instead of Snow Leopard. Not that I think there would be any difference. To people with GMA950 27ae: Please provide me with a VBIOS dump of your 27ae, so I can search for solutions. Please download these files and follow instructions below: http://www.mediafire.com/?eyznmjmihnm sudo -s cd ~/Desktop/VBIOS (or drag folder location in the terminal) chown -R root:wheel RadeonPCI.kext chmod -R 755 RadeonPCI.kext kextload RadeonPCI.kext ./RadeonDump -d exit

I have tried with and without PNLF. The kexts are already installed on their original location. /S/L/E. The strange thing is when I look at AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext, in the info.plist there is a string for SAFE BOOT, and AppleIntelGMA950.kext doesn't have this string. I remembered that with iDeneb 10.5.8 I had resolution change in SAFE BOOT, which means that AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext makes this happen because only this kext loads in SAFE BOOT. So now I think that I need a fully patched framebuffer and a different intelgma950. The weird thing also is, my VBIOS dump says it's 27A2, while both Windows and Mac tell me it's 27AE. Could you provide me information about your VBIOS using this link? http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1029 NOTE: Instead of "kextutil" in the tutorial use "kextload" .. without quotes ofcourse.
  4. Snow Leopard on Sony Vaio VPCW12S1E / PCG-4V1M

Thanks for your reply. I already have tried that solution. Please see my other link in addition to get graphics to work. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=217096
  5. Hi Guys, This is an extra topic where I'll explain what i've tried to make the graphics work. Still without succes though. 1. iATKOS v7 10.5.7 Leopard. WORKS!. - Select GMA950 Desktop driver during install. - Select EFI String during install. - Manually edit both AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and AppleIntelGMA950.kext. - HEX edit both files AND edit both info.plists. - Natit [injector] - OR use my kexts. Download here. http://www.mediafire.com/?lyjz0zjtzry 2. I've tried iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 Leopard. - Edit info.plist and HexEdit AppleIntelGMA950.kext and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext - Removed Framebuffer_Disabler.kext. - Only managed to get resolution work in SAFE BOOT. Normal boot ends up with ^@ up screen, only mouse pointer shows. 3. I've tried retail 10.6.0 Snow Leopard. - Prasys netbook_pack for 27ae on 10.6.0 - 10.6.1 and 10.6.2. - Prasys Link: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/09/snow-leokexts-for-netbooks/ - AnV [Andy Vandijck] solution on 10.6.2 and 10.6.3. - AnV Link: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=210660 - Chameleon RC5 pre7 r69 with custom boot file. - Patched DSDT with PNLF device as instructed. - Use kext files for 10.6.2 or 10.6.3 as provided. 4. I've tried 10.6.3 kexts on Snow Leopard 10.6.3. - Use patched kexts IntelGMA950, AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer, IOGraphicsFamily, IONDRVSupport. - Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?ulmbgzonbi3 I think i've tried over a thousand combinations with kext files etc. Driving me nuts! All solutions tried with or without GraphicsEnabler=yes. Tried different boot options like: arch=i386, x-32, etc Tried Natit injection. Tried EFI string. I always end up with a gray or black screen in Snow Leopard. In Leopard I end up with a striped screen and mouse pointer. -- I am sure my Intel GMA 950 is 27ae. Both System Profiler and Windows give me this information. Although the strange thing is, when I create a BIOS dump with RadeonDump -d, it creates a file with this name: 27A2.5D00.0003.vga.rom Extra information related to the VBIOS Dump: From Terminal: Found a device of class RadeonPCI: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/GFX0@2/RadeonPCI it matched on name "display" Found a device of class RadeonPCI: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/display@2,1/RadeonPCI it matched on name "display" System Profiler: Mobile GMA950: Chipset Model: Mobile GMA950 Type: GPU Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of Shared System Memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x27ae Revision ID: 0x0003 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes -- If there is someone able to help, please do! Here i'll upload my files. Patched DSDT.dsl with PNLF device info added. Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?wglmyeeten2 SMBios.plist. Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?1mjtijyu0wm com.apple.boot.plist. 6. Hi Guys, I have installed Snow Leopard on my netbook. I have used a retail installation of 10.6.0 and later updated to 10.6.3. I am using Chameleon RC5 Pre7 r69 with the following kexts in /Extra/Extensions: - AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext - ApplePS2Controller.kext - ApplePS2Keyboard.kext - ApplePS2Mouse.kext - Disabler.kext - FakeSMC.kext - IOATAFamily.kext - NullCPUPowerManagement.kext - OpenHaltRestart.kext - PlatformUUID.kext For Sound and Battery to work I use the following kexts in /System/Library/Extensions: - AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext - VoodooHDA.kext - Bluetooth works OOB The rest of the system is completely untouched and 100% legit/unmodified. I only removed IOATAFamily.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/ because it might give kernel panics. Note: After the 10.6.3 v1.1 combo update you'll need to remove this kext again! What doesn't work yet: - Intel GMA950 0x27ae8086 - Onboard WiFi AR5B95 Atheros 9285 - 168c 002b - Onboard Ethernet Since Snow Leopard 10.6.2/3 doesn't support the Atom processor anymore, I use the following kernel: - chocolate_kernel [i use this one but both work great] - atom_kernel I temporarily use a Sitecom WL-352 300N mini USB adapter for wireless internet. --- To get video working, i've tried so damn many options, that i'm tired of trying. I use a patched DSDT with PNLF values. HexEdited IntelGMA950 and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer etc. About This Mac still crashes but i've read that AppleSMBIOSEfi-28air will fix that problem. I'll try this solution later. --- More information about my system: Intel Atom N280 1,66GHz 2GB DDR2 800 Corsair 250GB Harddrive 10,1" 1366x768 display - 0x27ae8086 rev.0003 DOWNLOAD ABOVE KEXTS? Here are the Extra/Extensions kexts for chameleon: http://www.mediafire.com/?zynemjwwxu4 Here are the Sound and Battery kexts for /S/L/E: http://www.mediafire.com/?mdyj5yynkm1 If I manage to get it al running, i'll post a nice detailed tutorial about how to install Snow Leopard on this netbook. -- In an effort trying to get the graphics to work, check my other post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=217096
  7. AsRock 775Dual-VSTA & iPC 10.5.6 PPF5

Hi, have you managed to get any further? I have the same motherboard and both my dvd and hd driver are IDE. (my hdd is set to primary master) When i choose the option ICH chipset, i get the message "still waiting for root device". Although my hdd is set to primary master, it still can't find the root disk. Even if i enter rd=diskYsX (disk2s1) it doesn't work. When i choose the option for VIA/SIS etc.. chipset, i get an instant reboot. My bios options are all good i believe. I think it has something to do with the chipset driver.. I have done many OSX86 installs on a lot of different pc's, but now i'm tired of finding the right settings wich will probably cost me a lot of time and installations AsRock 775Dual-VSTA Core 2 Duo 1,80GHz (vanilla) 2GB DDR2 667 (ADATA) 8400GS 512MB 120GB IDE HDD DVD Burner IDE
  8. Ati Xpress 200m/1100 video kalyway 10.5.1

well, i stopped using osx because of the video issue. But tonight i'll give it a try again with the callisto 003 fix. If I have any succes i'll let you guys know. ( even without succes i'll let you know ) I have already tried the callisto 003 fix in the past. It did detect my graphics card but after the osx boot screen my screen got white with artifacts all over it. The only thing that keeps me from re-trying all the time, is that everytime when something goes wrong, i screw up my osx installation and i have to start all over again..very annoying. sometimes i forget to look at this topic, so it's not always up-to-date. if you guys have any tips please send them to : sonny@live.nl or just add me on MSN. thanks!
  9. Ati Xpress 200m/1100 video kalyway 10.5.1

sorry for the late post, but SwitchResX doesn't work. When I choose the resolution I want, and reboot, it says that the chosen resolution should work but it doesn't. I also created custom settings for my resolution but they don't work either. But Simphax thanks for the comment. I'm still stuck on 1024x768.
  10. Ati Xpress 200m/1100 video kalyway 10.5.1

I already added my Device ID to CallistoHAL.kext. 0x5a621002.. I also did all the terminal commands and renew the Extensions.kext. diskutil repairpermissions / But after restart Leopard doesn't seem to load my CallistoHAL.kext. I did a clean Tiger 10.4.8 JaS install on a seperate harddrive and with external DVD drive. In Tiger I can use the CallistoHAL, and I can change my resolution to 1280x800. But ofcourse without QE/CE. Leopard also seems to have other commands in Terminal, because in Tiger I get different responses with things like : sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache then diskutil repairpermissions / then restart and VOILA... But that's in Tiger. But thanks for your comment! Any help and tips are welcome.
  11. Ati Xpress 200m/1100 video kalyway 10.5.1

Hi everybody, I have an Packard Bell EasyNote MX36 notebook. I was never succesfull with installing OSX86 on my notebook, but thanks to the new Leopard 10.5.1 Kalyway DVD I was succesfull to install Leopard on my laptop. Everything works: -Sound -Lan -Wireless -USB except the DVD drive, I used an external DVD drive to install OSX. Now I have an Ati Radeon Xpress 1100 videocard, but OSX recognizes it as an Ati Xpress 200m. I know some people got resolution changing working in OSX Tiger. Mostly 10.4.8 JaS. Because of the 8.8.1 kernel. I tried al those methods on Leopard but it doesn't seem to work. There was something with Callisto 003, and Callisto 003 (fixed) and Katana. I tried to use the AtiRadeon9700 patch or something, cant really remember. Also tried forced graphics mode : "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32" Please someone help me getting the 1280x800 resolution instead of 1024x768. I know its possible on the Xpress 1100 onboard graphics card. My specs: Intel Core Duo T2350 1,86GHz - out of the box 2GB ddr2 667 - out of the box 160GB S-ATA HDD - out of the box Onboard Realtek HD Sound - working with AzaliaAudio Atheros Wireless LAN - out of the box 15" widescreen 1280x800 working on 1024x768 Ati Radeon Xpress 1100 seen as Ati Radeon Xpress 200m.
