ninetto
I was surprised to recently discover that Kaly installs the sleep mach.kernel by default, even when vanilla is chosen as an install option. At least that is what has happened with my install. BUT ANYWAY I was curious of the practical pros/cons of the two kernels... after booting with VANILLA I still had functionality of all devices, and things "seemed" snappier, but maybe it was all psychological... Any opinions on a comparison with this? Pros, cons... especially on Gigabyte boards! johnzi
with speedstep kernel you can throttle your cpu speed (multiplier) and it will be cooler.. with vanilla kernel you can use software update as normal mac user (but be careful with custom kexts) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85783-vanilla-vs-machkernel-in-kaly-1051/#findComment-609232 Share on other sites
