Guest AaloPalto
Hi all, it seems that when i set 'HyperThreading' off on boot-time with ht=off i got no 'stuttering' is OSX. Can any DualCore users try that? cu Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8529-athlon64-dualcore-possible-fix/ Share on other sites
wesley
It does not work for me. Also, I tried 'fn=3 idlehalt=0' after deleting kextcache and stuff, but still didn't stop the stuttering. cpus=1 is the only one that works for me as of now. wesley
The goal is to not get stuttering at all, at least while apps behave within CPU load's reasonable boundary (i.e. stuttering is not caused by overloading system resources). I notice stuttering right from the start with 'ht=off' or 'fn=3 idlehalt=0' settings. wesley
Maybe it's because he's using Opteron or because the video card isn't accelerated? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8529-athlon64-dualcore-possible-fix/#findComment-53360 Share on other sites

Can any DualCore users try that? cu "ht=off" is equivalent of "cpus=1" on P4 (i've tried "cpus" on my computer). on amd "ht=off" is useless, since you don't have "logical" aka "ht" CPUs in the system. So it means the ht=off indeed isn't doing anything significant, confirming sigxcpu's comment.
