quis
Yeah, to tell the truth, I first got the idea of "Mac on PC" not quite long ago... But ive browse through many forums about osx86. However I still have some questions. 1. So it seems that pc-efi helps hachintosh get much more close to a real mac. And we can make the disk gpt now. Then why doesn't everyone just use a retail DVD? What's the problem with it? 3. I'm interested in the sticky thread "Leopard Perfect Install," however I don't really understand why I have to use both Brazilmac and Kalyway DVDs? Won't they overwrite each other? 3. I see that Kalyway includes many updates and fixes and EFI. But why do I still have to apply so many patches? What would happen if I just install form a Kalyway DVD without any modifications? 4. If I want to make a disk GPT I'll have to format the whole hd, right? And if I want to install vista again i'll have to use bootcamp? Some people say that both leo and vista run faster under gpt, but what if with bootcamp? I mean though gpt is better for both, bootcamp seems to decrease vista's performance, doesn't it? Here are only some of the questions in my head...hope you guys can help me! Sorry for grammar mistakes if there are.

Hi 1.It really depends on the hardware you are running but you cannot use the original unmodified install since it wont boot on a PC,you can install an original unmodified DVD if you are alread running OSX (Tiger or leopard) or have access to a Mac genuine machine but hooking up your HD to it and installing OSX on it along with PC_EFI 2.You can use only one DVD but the guide was written before the 10.5.1 DVD from Kalyway was released so you needed the tirger boot kalyway DVD to make to boot and make your machine bootable. 3.It all depends on your hardware, you shouldnt have issues with trying to install with just the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD the patches are dependant on your hardware and usually are post install patches like sound, network and video. 4.There are several Dual/Triple booting guides in this section, from what i know you can not use Boot Camp unless you have a genuine Mac,it has something to do with the EFI. So if you are going to dual boot then you'll need to install a boot loader or you can for some systems hold F12 and choose which drive to boot(mostly newer Mobo's) Hope this helps. For some systems most of the stuff will work out of the box and for it wont.
quis
Thanks a lot! But please check out this...from the sticky thread, "installing EFI v8+ dual booting" .......Method Number 2: Starting with out Tiger or Leopard. This way is the same as you would post patch BrazilMac's leopard if you didnt have another tiger install. Obtain the EFI file its now up to v8 Format your usb drive as FAT or FAT32 and Name it sumthing easy you can remember for this example im using 123. Do all the same steps as follows above except do them in the leopard/tiger install DVD. ....... Dual-Booting...(Boot Camp, I_am...me's way) With EFI V8.0 you can now boot NTFS and FAT32 Partitions. So after you get EFI v8 working you can go ahead and install windows, but only x64 XP or vista( guess its better than nuthing...) will work, since those are the only ones that have EFI support. ...... It is where I got the idea of bootcamping vista in my question no 4. It's talking about doing all those on a hachintosh right? Or I misunderstood? And you mentioned that "Kalyway 10.5.1" is newer than the "Leopard Perfect Install." So with this disk, what I have to do now is simply insert it and complete the installation?
