ChadD
I am trying to dualboot between Windows XP (hda1)*, another XP (hdb2)*, OSX86 10.4.1 Dev (hdb3)*, and SuSE Linux 10.0 (hdb4)*. All of the OS's can boot successfully except OSX86. I have the Windows bootloader by default and I have a GRUB floppy for linux. I was able to get the chainloader to run on the first Windows partition but it hangs for 2 hours and I give up. If I load the chain0 file off of my SuSE partition, it just reloads GRUB. Is there something I'm missing? I am trying this on an HP Pavilion 7955 and I do not want to touch the MBR. --By the way, I am unable to change drives between master/slave due to the fact that I am doing this on a shared computer and I would like nothing to mess up with booting, etc. *Drive names as shown in Linux. Thanks in advance.
kikos
If I load the chain0 file off of my SuSE partition, it just reloads GRUB. Can you clarify that statement? You might be able to hit F8 before it reloads GRUB, if it's the problem I'm thinking of that happens in xp/osx dual boots.
ChadD
My chainloader file is on the root of hdb4. When I run the chainloader via GRUB, the screen just flashes black and GRUB reappears. I try to access the chainloader through the windows bootloader but for more than 2 hours, I was sitting in front of a blank, black screen with the HDD light on my pc on steadily. There was also the flashing _ in the top left corner of the screen. Is there a problem with using a slave drive for this install?
