Skywing
So I decided to get adventurous and try out Kalyway on my X61, hardware specs as follows: Intel C2D 1.6GHz 2GB RAM Intel X3100 Vid Atheros A/B/G Wireless Intel Gigabit Ethernet I am installing this on the same hard drive as my Windows install, the installation process went perfectly, the boot menu is letting me select what OS to boot perfectly, however OSX wont start perfectly. Upon normal boot it generally gets hung up at the mDNSResponder, while booting I see numerous errors regarding it being unable to install the kext for my X3100 vid card and errors stating that no network adapters were detected as well. I can boot in via safe mode fine though, however there are no network adapters and no display installed. Is this purely a case of hardware not being supported or is there some way for me to get this working? Thanks for the help. Skywing
Forgot to add that I selected the Vanilla kernel, was this the correct step to take given my hardware? jacob019
help? Good news skywing, I made some progress. It's bittersweet but a step in the right direction. The problem is the intel gma kexts. Get rid of them and it boots. I booted into safe mode using -s, then typed "mount -uw /" to enable write support in safe mode, then I moved /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA* to a new directory named disabled. Then I removed /System/Library/extensions.mkext (the boot cache) and I rebooted. Please let me know if you make any progress with this laptop. No video acceleration, but it works reasonably well without it.
