Hi I bought a cheap computer for office work and web and stuff and I am already fed up with vista. I have tried installing leopard but have had minimal luck.

Heres my specs:

  • Compaq Presario SR2170NX
  • Intel Pentinum 4 3.00Ghz model number 631 with HT. Code name Cedar Mill socket 775. Supports (MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64T)
  • Motherboard is ECS Athena 5 with ATI Chipset RS400/RC400/RC410
  • Bios is American Megatrends Inc. v5.14
  • Ram is one stick of Hyundai 1gb DDR2 memory
  • Hard Drive is 160gb SATA
  • Graphics are Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 but has a PCI Express expansion slot

The farthest i got was the end of the OSX installer with "4 minutes left" until done. I was so frustrated :D

Right now I have the whole hard drive in one partition running XP Professional. I am determined to make leopard work now so please help. I have some programs that I need to use Windows for so I will need to do some form of a dualboot between OSX and XP/Vista

would anybody please be willing to help me out and write out the steps I need to take from my current configuration to get Leopard working?

Also, Right now I have the SATA mode set to IDE because windows wouldnt boot with AHCI
