UPDATED: (Same as the last msg)

Hello again.

So I finally got the 10.4.3 8f1111 DTK Userdvd, patched it, and burned it.

when I try to boot it, I can see the apple logo, the loading spinning circle (or however u want to call it), but it just keeps spinning and spinning.

when using -v, I can see repeatly on going error msgs, which I just cant understand, becasue they are going too fast...

whats the problem now?

If possible, you should try the latest DVD installer (10.4.3 8F1111A). It worked (nearly) without a hitch.

But just make sure the drive running Mac OS X is on the primary IDE cable. My installation didnt work because I had the DVD running off a secondary, switching the DVD to primary fixed the 'root device' problem. i'm now running Mac OS X on the Primary as a Slave and dual booting with XP.

EagleX, Try this

get the 10.4.3 8f1111 DTK Userdvd.dmg, patch it with the JaS 8f1111a patch, then the maxxuss, kernal 2 patch sse3 -> sse2 (if you dont have sse3) and the no nx patch, (if you processor) dosnt support Nx, then burn to a DVD-RW/DVD+RW, install the DVD on a IDE PATA DRIVE (please dont use SATA) then it should be good, Natively as well, then you wont need to dual boot, as you can set in your bios which hard drive to boot, so when you wanna go to XP, just select your SATA drive, as your first boot harddrive, and bingo you got xp, thats what i got Semt-x to do with 10.4.1 and a 10gb PATA drive, and he is well happy now it works

Yours faithfully

  • 4 weeks later...

OS X 10.4.3 worked, but I installed windows vista and now I get tis message "still waiting for root device" when I try to boot OS X (in verbose mode), if I try to boot normally, after oine minute, a forbidden logo apeats on the apple logo.

Any idea? Vista also changed the dual boot menu.
