north_of_us
I currently have XP pro and have no problems, except and older system with no b@lls for video editing. I would like to avoid Vista, my brother in law just built a Vista 64 and what a pain in the butt. I swear that thing hasnt ran stable for more then a couple of days. My main usage will be for editing (Final Cut Pro 6 Academic), music, would like to put in a blu-ray drive and to display tv on a lcd 20" monitor later on a 42-47" LCD monitor (get that next year). CPU- Q9450 that 45nm one Ram - 4gigs of pc2-8500 HD - 2 raptors (not in raid, just a main and a slave) Video - would like to get 8800 gt, is that possible Sound - would like a SC with right and left analog outs to hook up to an amp to power some speakers (2 channel). I have a seperate 7.1 HT and want only 2 channel. Any chance on bluetooth options I have wireless N in the house Mobo ?????? looking for something higher end but im not overclocking, just normal settings. north_of_us
Did some reading through the forum and came to conclusion that the Intel bad axe 2 (D975XBX2) should do the trick or the other board in that lineup the DX38BT with the x38 chipset or the DP35DP with a higher FSb compared to the Axe???? Also stability needs to play a big role Is the 8800gt good to go and whats Kalyway???? any opinions Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83804-question-before-i-jump-in-and-build-a-osx86/#findComment-595219 Share on other sites
Rackers
I've heard good things about Badaxe boards, I've got a 975x board which is what Badaxe is based on. The X38 is a good chipset in itself but I'm not sure how it performs concerning 10.5.1. You can use an 8800GT, there's a topic in the tutorial section on how you install it. Kalyway 10.5.1 is the DVD you burn to install Leopard.
