legionX
Ok guys, I just bought a little Compaq Presario 5130 and it works PERFECTLY as a hackintosh, all I had to do was install the OS and everything worked even better than and faster than the Mac Pros we have at work. Only thing is I tried installing FCP Studio and everything works except for FCP itself, crashes after asking about my firewire device. No error message, just disappears. I looked in the system profiler and when I go to Firewire is just says "Firewire Bus:" but nothing below that where the information should be. Keep in mind I'm currently using a little Belkin USB/Firewire PCI card as the motherboard does not have builtin firewire. P.S. Does the little power plug on PCI firewire cards have to be plugged? MacUser2525
My SoundBlaster Audigy FireWire port works, sound doesn't. Sad but true same thing here firewire works no sound. To the original poster I have a Dynex brand 3 port that works well. The information on the chip that you can see if you find similar is: Agere L-FW323-06 1394a Link/PNY On the PCB 1394 Card Version 1.0a It just shows up as Firewire Bus: Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83600-pci-firewire-cards-that-work/#findComment-595399 Share on other sites
