moel
..I've got my works laptop that i can't reinstall windows on (as it will be a pain in the bum) Anyway i have my kalyway 10.5.1 dvd to hand and the other day i installed it onto my external usb disk But i can't get to it, because my bios won't allow me to boot to an external usb 2 drive (but will with a usb stick) Now currently i have two partitions on my internal laptop drive One is windows, the other is osx86 I've already had 10.4.8 on there so currently when i turn it on i hit F8 and the darwin bootloader lets me go to windows Now for the tricky bit Does the kalyway 10.5.1 have the same darwin bootloader? So that if i were to hit F8 on startup i could go to windows I DO NOT have a win xp cd to replace the MBR (hence the reason why i'm using the darwin bootloader) Is there a bootloader available i could bang onto a usb stick to get it to access my external usb HD? I hope this is clear, so any suggestions people? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83569-does-leopard-have-a-bootloader/ Share on other sites
SticMAC™
pressing F8 IS the Darwin bootloader, but with 2 OS's on it should show them! and give you the choice by moving your cursor up or down.. moel
Sticman thanks for your quick reply So what your saying is if i insert my kalyway 10.5.1 dvd into my laptop...get it to install to OSX86 (aka D: or disk0,1) then once installed the darwin bootloader will still be there and i can hit F8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83569-does-leopard-have-a-bootloader/#findComment-593535 Share on other sites
socal swimmer
kalyway may replace the boot-loader with a newer darwin boot-loader, but it should still work with windows. Just don't install efi.
