I am extremely please i managed to get leopard working almost perfectly on my laptop with an external HDD

only problem is... (something i had the last time i installed it) is when i click shut down... the screen will turn off as normal.. but the laptop still remains on.. which is quite dangerous.. the only way to have a full shut down is to hold the power button for 5 seconds...which i could forget to do one time and then my laptop will overheat and die..

so how can i solve this problem? A while ago... i asked and iv looked in the forums and was told to download this file "AppleACPIPlatform" but i have no idea what you do with it

can anyone help me out?

Join the club. Everybody has this problem and most of the time there is not a fix for a specific setup.. but if someone gave you a an appleacpiplatform.kext then you should replace your old kext. You go to System/Library/extensions and then drag it in. Then you have to go back into the /System/Library folder and delete the 2 files, one with the extensions'.kextcache' the other is like 'mkext' or something. restart and see if u can shutdown. If it doesnt work, i wouldnt be surpised. Just be happy everything works fine other than that.. OS x just has some trouble communicating with the bios to shut down.
