CDCohen
So I finally downloaded my full copy of BrazilMac, after iATKOS v1.0i failed me. I simply followed the directions that came with the torrent, and included the USB drive (named "PATCHER") with the set of files on it. When I burned the BrazilMac boot up disc, I had no problems, and my computer booted right up from it, showing the Darwin x86 Bootloader, after it took about 5-10 minutes to load, it got to the grey apple screen and accompanied by the spiral moving, it spun around for 5-10 more minutes, and finally it got to the main screen where it showed me what language to select. After I selected the language, it brought me to the Welcome screen, where I accepted the agreement (haha). Next was the installation, and where my problem lies. Once I hit install, it said "INSTALL FAILED" and underneath it read: Â "The Installer could not locate the data it needed to install the software. Check your install media or internet connection and try again or contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again" Â Of course I don't think the logical answer would be to go ahead and give apple a call, and I already tried restarting this installation process five times now. If it can help for a logical solution here are my computer specs: Â SONY VAIO VGC-RA826G Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (Hyper Threading) 550 3.40 GHz Memory: 2 GB DDR SDRAM Hard Drive 1: 250GB SATA 7,200 RPM (Windows XP Pro.) Hard Drive 2: 500GB SATA 7,200 RPM (Partitioned to FAT32 For MAC OS X 10.5) Graphics Controller: ATI RADEON X1600 , 512 MB Â And yes, I know that I'm still running a P4 processor, but I've heard that it is possible to run OSx86 on it. Â Any advise right now is useful! Thank you.
agent-squirrel
Erm if your using a brazil mac dvd you have to click customize where it has a picture of the os x dvd. And uncheck everything except the base system. Then install. Hope that helps!
CDCohen
After you gave me hope, I decided to boot up BrazilMac again. I selected my language, and looked very carefully through each page of the setup, and I found the customize button! Thank you so much! Â EDIT: Mon 8:51 PM Â I just went to go get a drink, and I came back, and my installer, once again failed: Â "The Installer could not install some files in "/Volume/LEOPC(My HD Name)". contact the software manufacturer for assistance." Â What does this mean? How can I fix this?

Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." Â Any way I can fix it?
agent-squirrel
You may have to reformat your drive partition as Mac OS Extended. You can do this from the disk utilty under the utilities menu in the installer. Right click your drive in disk utility and press erase, give it a name and choose mac os extended from the drop down. Â EDIT: Once it becomes Mac OS Extended (HFS+) Vista/XP wont be able to read it without 3rd party software. EDIT2: Can i point you at this guide. It is the most thorough i have found. CDCohen
I followed your directions, and this is what happened:  "Disk Erase failed  Disk Erase failed with the error:  Could not unmount disk."  How should I try to change this? Should I try and boot into XP with it and try to use Partition Magic 8.0 to erase the 1st partition I made, and then boot back into disk utilities to try and create a partition? agent-squirrel
AWW you seem to be running it a few hitches here. You should try Formatting the partition as NTFS from within windows (sounds strange but mac os x seems to have better support for it). Then format it to HFS+ from disk utlity. If that fails try the Free Gparted live cd. Its a stripped down linux distro with gparted partition manager buit in. Its like partition magic but free and runs from cd drive.Come to think of it, your using a seperate drive for mac os so you could just create a new partition table from within disk utility for that drive. CDCohen
Ok, so I rebooted into XP and ran Norton Partition Magic v8.0 and erased the FAT32 partition named LEO, so all I have is a blank 500GB hard drive. Then, I rebooted into the BrazilMac disc, and got to the Welcome to OS X screen, I ran disk utility and formated the whole 500GB hard drive to MAC Journaled and named the hard drive OSx86. Â Right now I am at the install screen, and it is currently installing without any problems.

CDCohen
Ok, the install went completely well, so I just rebooted my computer, and got to the Darwin Bootloader, hit F8, and then typed -s, now the DVD is loading in verbose mode. Hopefully I wont have any problems.
agent-squirrel
Erm -s isnt for verbose -s is for single user command line mode.
CDCohen
OK, well the screen has rolled down the whole command list: Â When it reboots, I know that I have to open up UTILITIES-TERMINAL... what do I type? I remember that now the USB drive is part of this procedure.

CDCohen
Well, I took a look at that guide that you posted, and I am so glad, the directions that I was following were totally wrong. BUT.. I have another problem.. Â I followed all the directions for the terminal, and they all were right, but it doesn't reboot into leopard... what do I do? it just brings up the darwin bootloader again
agent-squirrel
what happens if you press enter at the darwin bootloader. OSX86 uses the darwin bootloader to boot.
CDCohen
So I install OSX again?
agent-squirrel
No you dont need to. But the what you are seeing may be your actual os x installation's Darwin boot loader. Try pressing enter if it boots the dvd then restart without the dvd and try it that way.
