Acer TravelMate 6291

Bios ( updated ): AHCI or IDE both freeze

VGA: GMA950

SATA HD

RAM: 2GB

After booting with DVD, the curser becomes very slow and freeze every 5 sec, and it comes back for 5 min sometime. I pulled out the HD and install the 10.5.1 as a USB drive, after installing, the same, it freeze after reboot...

Any suggestion? Thank you.

yea this happens on alot of setups, the second core doesnt work. Do as websinister did and boot with cpus=1. When your actually in leopard, so you do not have to do it upon every boot... go into terminal and type "sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" and where it says <key>Kernel Flags</key> and then a line below it it says <string></string> change that to <string>cpus=1</string>

It works! Thanks for big help.

BTW, anyone made the acer 6291 lan work?

Don't know the lan chip? 57xx?

hi guys,

i have same issue cpus=1 works and ive followed a guide to get it installed.

however after the big green tick and i click restart, then what?

i see you say i need to do cpus=1 again, but how do i do this, as i assume i am not supposed to start the setup from the cd again and i dont seem to get any options just straight into the apple loading screen.

without the dvd in i get HFS+ partition error

1) What partition format you choose? GUID or MBR ( master boot record ) ?

2) Can you see " press any key to enter startup options (5)" when reboot? press a key and you can do the cpus=1 again.
