Hitlo1
I have a Realtek 8169 Gigabit ethernet PCI card. I also have an onboard Intel 82566DC which is not being used due to the unliklyness of getting that to work in Leopard. There is an existing driver for RTL8169 from Realtek but for Tiger 10.4.x. This driver pkg. did not work in my 10.5.1 install. Then again I may neen to patch or repair my IONetworkingFamily.kext. I think it may not be functioning properly based my a recent failed attempt to backup with Time Machine. It's a possibility that the pkg may work after updating my IONetworking. I was wondering if anyone know if there is a way to mod or use a working kext for a different NIC in the same 8100 family, possibly supporting only 10/100bits instead of a gigabit? Any help or thoughts out there, even on the onboard Intel 82566DC is possible. Thanks! rhalls
the 8169 should be supported in leopard without any additional kexts. i have it here in a 7 Euro PCI card and it works without any additional drivers without a problem. try the approriate kexts fro this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=77165&hl= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82739-realtek-ethernet-drivers-patches-or-workarounds/#findComment-587334 Share on other sites
Hitlo1
Thanks. I already fixed it. It was supported after I updated my IONetworkingFamily.kext All Good now! Now if it's possible to get my on-board Intel 82566DC to work, that would be ideal. I could then pop out this extra PCI card.
