Matrix Singhal
Hi all I am trying to install leopard but still no luck.. My PC config is: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 XFX 650i Ultra 2GB Ram XFX 8600GT 256MB 320GB Seagate HDD SATA I have four partitions: C: NTFS Windows Ultimate 44.9GB D: NTFS 48.8GB E: NTFS Data 82GB F: NTFS Data 102GB and 20 GB AF primary partition for Laeopard(created using diskpart). But in partition magic its showing this partition as Hidden and when i tried to unhide it,its partition id changed to bf. Now I have both BrazillianMac DVD and iATKOS v1.0 iso and I have tried installing from both DVD but no luck.Everytime I boot from the DVD and press F8 and then -v it shows 4-5 lines saying some HFS+ ..... and then the PC get restarted. And if I dont press F8 and start the installation then "|" comes and keeps on rotating for some time and then again PC gets restarted. After trying all this I boot from my older Tiger x86 DVD and tried installing TIGER from it ....but when it comes to selecting the partition on which i want tiger to be installed, its not detecting my entire harddisk.I go to disk utility also but it is showing only the Tiger installation disc and my HDD is not there. Now I dont know how to proceed. Please help me as i desperately want to install LEO and I havent sleep since yesterday. Bauer418
Most likely your HD isn't running in IDE mode. Start your BIOS at boot and look for the controller type of your SATA HD. It needs to be set to IDE for OS X to recognize it. My guess is that it's on RAID or AHCI. Bauer418
I know that when I was installing leopard with iATKOS, sometimes it took 2 or 3 boots to get it to recognize my HD and go into setup. It does it occasionally now that it is installed as well, but it only seems to come up when I'm messing around with the kexts, and even then, less than 10% of the time. I haven't tried loading up the latest SATA kexts for my mobo, which may solve the problem, but who knows. As for you, pop in the CD, load it with command option -v, if it doesn't recognize the HD, try it again. If it still isn't working, come back and let us know. jlbrown23
Some info you don't include - what is the setup of your optical drive you are trying to do the install from? IDE, SATA? I've only done the install from an IDE DVD drive(although I installed to a Seagate SATA drive - but with only 1 partition), and I know that for that I had to set the DVD drive as the Master. Before I had it set up like that I also had problems getting the DVD to boot properly. And you also might want to try different flavors of osx86 - I know that iAtkos works fine for me but Kalyway crashes mid-install. And some advice - buying a new HD might not be the worst idea. You can probably find a sale for lower capacity SATA drives. I like to keep my OS's seperate on a desktop, especially when one is a hacked OS that has not been optimized for my hardware. I do a lot on my Hackintosh & for the most part have no problems, but I never do anything critical on it(banking, purchases, store the big presentation I have to give the next day, etc). It is sort of hobbiest machine and you should use it realizing that at any time the whole thing could go south and take your data with it. And even if it works just fine, with a separate HD your booting options are a little easier. captainLoknar
The problem is not the HDD but your SATA controller. Try to find the option in your BIOS to disable SATA or use IDE mode - something like that. Lastly: STOP DOUBLE-POSTING... man... why hasnt the moderator raped this guy in the ear yet???!
