Sclice
I can install Kallyway's 10.4.10 on my external hard drive but I can not install on my laptop hard drive. I says that the drive is read only. Does this make sense? I have a HP tx1218ca AMD Turion 64 dual core Nvida chipset 5200rpm sata drive Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82325-hard-drive-read-only/ Share on other sites
westwaerts
i suppose thats because it is NTFS formatted and OSX can read, but not write to it and further on not boot from it. Eddie Turfboer
I thought the default for external drives was FAT32, but still it can be formatted with NTFS... Sclice
Well what I did do was I installed Kalyways Leopard to my external drive and used Acronis partition prog to copy the exact partition to my laptop HD. I am getting the i/o error on the HD while booting and it seems that the HD is read only for OSX. My question is should I just reformat my entire laptop HD and install fresh into OSX? BTW any partion that I tried to install OSX to on my laptop HD was in either FAT32 or OSswap.
