Hi everyone,I bought myself a HP530, which is a nice and sleek laptop, however its fitted with agma950, and both kalyway 10.5.1 and xxx 10.4.11 completely deny it exists :)Okay, i can boot, get a gui but no CI/QE and stuck at 1024x768. System profilertells me that there is no kext loaded for the graphics card.after a lot of googling and trying a lot of options (replace framebuffer kext, using gma900 fixer, jas 10.4.8 gma950 pakage etc.) i figured out my gma950 seems to have a rather unique id, which its 27AE and not 27A2 like the MacBook, Mac Mini and most other GMA950 equipped computers.so my first thought was to modify the set of kexts beloning to the GMA950, hower, i cant seemto find the proper device id's inside the 950 kexts and bundles :D Makes me feel like a newbie, so i hope anyone can help me out :) Sorry doublepost, thread can be deleted.

Yes i did!

Works pretty good on my HP530, some minor glitches like random slowdown (rarely)

when using Expose, and a "ghosting" effect using the Flurry screensaver (always)

Here's a quick howto*:

0 backup your gma950 kexts!

1 you need the right hexeditor, most of them out there seem to miss a "string search option"

So use Hexfiend : http://ridiculousfish.com/hexfiend/

2 Copy the files:

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

to a folder on your desktop

3 Launch hex fiend and search/replace "86 80 A2 27" in both files (see how the bytes are swapped?)

with "86 80 AE 27". without the quotes ofcourse. if you do it right, the total number of replaced strings

will be +/- 51 (25+26).

4 copy both files to /System/Library/Extensions

5 repair permissions

Tested with 10.4.8 jas edition and xxx 10.4.11 not with 10.5(.1/.2)

*Credits to the people in the "official gma950/x3100" tread

Hi

Has any one of you using Hp530 able to edit its BIOS for whitelising the wifi card? I have a dell 4311 card with me but could not edit the BIOS till now. When I put the card in side instead of the original Intel card , after POST it shows the error 104 error unsupported wireless card .......

any idea? I have seen many post in this forum and when googled also for many other machines.

Gopan
