Hi

My pc just died so I need a new one which can run OSX and supports leopard fully so I don’t have to play around with patches.

The hardware requirement:

45nm Intel processor with 12mb in L2

4-8gb ram

Very fast hard disk

totally supported gfx maybe 8600gt I think it is supported :S

DVD-drive

I have around 700-800$

It would be great if someone could find me the hardware I need :)

well the 8600 is supported with the beta drivers but i would wait untill 10.5.2 comes out. right now from what i have been reading, people are not having luck with stability and some are though!

i am going with a 8800 GTS i think with my build.

quad core only has a 8 mb cache but i think the extreme has a 12!

go 8 gigs for sure!! it is soo cheap now like 140 for 8.

intel bad exe 2 Mobo is very stable with leapord!

and can use quad and 8 gigs of ram.

the only down side is only 4 sata ports work (not the 8 that it has on it)

and some minor audio problems but that can be fixed with a 6 buck usb card!

Good luck. and FCS should run very well.

o yea the quad core is very overclockable too! some SOME have gotten it to 4.0 Ghz from 2.4 Ghz! usally it goes around 3.3 to .34 Ghz i think. with water cooling probally higher!

Well, I odered the Q6600. It costs 200€ instead of 300€ and hast 2x4MB instead of 2x3MB cache. They come in G0 stepping which really has proven to be overclockable - in fact I have not seen any reports of the Q9300 at 4GHz. I'm not saying it cannot be done, the Q9300's are the newer, better models, but beeing a bit on the conservative side considering the amont of money I just spent on Hacintosh parts, I went for the reliable Q6600.

Oops - good thing you asked: NO, it doesn't:

However, this motherboard, which uses the Intel 975X Express chipset will not support the new 45nm processors,...

This is one of the reasosns I settles for a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4, everything works and there a good guides for this mobo here.
