pyrogator
I am using Acronis OS selector. Windows XP boots fine. However, I get an error when trying to boot the OSX install. I get the proper boot options menu but then a couple of messages and "Errors encountered while starting computer pausing for 5 seconds" and the machine reboots. Any idea what is wrong and how I can fix it? CPU=Intel p4 3.2ghz Motherboard=MSI PM8M3-V Graphics card=Nvidia geforce6600 256mb Ram=1gb DDR400 used Kalaway Leopard 10.5.1 dvd to install. Zeblade
Well I dont know that board but try search MSI PM8M3-V and you will have a good list that could help
Nuifrkns
More info on your setup would help... Did you try installing Leo on a dedicated HD? This is the best way to test it for your configuration without hassling w. multiple bootloaders.
pyrogator
I installed it on an empty 15gb partition but not a full empty drive by itself. I tried installing off the iAtkos dvd and got the same error when trying to boot it.
Nuifrkns
I would try install it on a dedicated drive. There are quite some issues around getting the Darwin bootloader correct. With your PC, I would first go with MBR/Darwin bootloader (not EFI) and a sse2 'patched' kernel.
pyrogator
Ok, finally on a dedicated drive (might also work on just a partition) using the SSE2 kernel suggested by you, osx finally booted with no errors. Thank you for the help. One last question before I mosey on over to the post installation forum and ask about sound and network <g> - my original intention was to install this on my toshiba satellite a105-4284 laptop which has an intel dual core 1.66ghz cpu and other intel chipset stuff. Do you think the vanilla core will boot or should I also select the SSE2 kernel?
Nuifrkns
Great it worked! Sound/network may be a matter of installing the right kexts. For your laptop you may give it a try with EFI/Vanilla. Check the HCL if someone else did this before.
