Processor Name / "About This Mac" / System Profiler

I'm running a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L with a Q6600 2.4GHz CPU and Kalyway 10.5.1.

 

It all runs great with a few quirks.

 

Once quirk is in "About This Mac". It says:

Processor: 2.4GHz Unknown

 

In system profiler it says my processor speed, #processors, #cores, amount of L2 cache, memory, bus speed... all correct... but it doesn't list my CPU name like I've seen in other people's list. It should say Intel Core 2 Quad or something.

 

Any ideas on how to fix this? I tried aquamac's technique

Also, anyone know how to change the Boot Rom Version to say something besides "Hack.int.0sh"?

 

 

I have 2 programs that aren't working for me - Logmein and Mozy. Perhaps this info has something to do with the programs not working? Everything else works great including Parallels with my XP drive.

go to system/library/coreservices/logiinwindow

 

 

right click "show package contents"

 

go to contents/resources/english.lproj/aboutthismacstrings

 

make a copy of aboutthismacstrings on you desktop and open with text edit.

 

 

Find this:

 

"ABOUT_BOX_SINGLE_PROCESSOR_FIELD_FORMAT" = "%@";

 

EDIT TO THIS:

"ABOUT_BOX_SINGLE_PROCESSOR_FIELD_FORMAT" = "2.4GHz Intel Quad Core 2 Duo";

 

or whatever you want.

 

 

replace the old one with the new one.

 

Check about this mac.

I have the same problem, but i won't find the "aboutthismac" file
