ginsbach13
In theory, shouldnt an AMD 64 bit processor be better equiped to run Leopard than most intel machines that only run a 32 bits? Because Leopard only comes in one 64 bit version correct? will someone explain to me why its more equiped to run on intel?? Just because Macs are on intel doesnt it conflict with the 32/64 bit issue?? Just wondering.. Im sure someone can explain this to me. I know intel is more compatible with intel, but does the 32 bit (that most pc's run) conflict with the 64 bit version that leo runs?? Thats why i try to make the argument that 64 bit AMD could potentially run Leo better than any kind of 32 bit intell? David86
Well if the computer is like 5 years old, intels have been 64 bit sine late pentium 4. Anyway its more about what type of instruction sets the processor is equiped with , such as ssse3. ~pcwiz
I'll just give you some quick answers: * Leopard comes in a 64-bit version, true, but it works fine with processors that don't support 64 bit * Its more equipped to run with Intel because real Macs are Intel based * Intel processors support 64-bit too, in fact they have supported 64 bit way back in the days of late P4s like David mentioned The key thing to understand here is: Intel is 64 bit too, not just AMD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82031-shouldnt-amd-in-theory-be-better-than-intel-for-leopard/#findComment-582658 Share on other sites
