I am having some problems with my osx86 setup on my latitude d630. If I can solve the following few problems, I will have a perfect Hackintosh installation, and once I can achieve that, I plan on making a complete guide to aid other users with the same (or similar) laptops get the same setup. The issues I am having are: My battery meter cannot display time, my system hangs on shutdown (sometimes, and I think that a sound kext is causing it), and my sound does not completely work. I am using the original kext for sound made by Paulo (with output only) because none of the later ones work. My distribution is Kalyway, and I have the sleep kernel installed. Here are my specs:

Intel C2D 2.4 GHz (worked out of the box)

Intel GMAX3100 (worked with Errandwolfe's sleep trick)

Sigmatel 9205 (partially working with Paulo's kext, see above)

2 GB Ram (working fine out of the box)

I think that is all that is important, and thank you to anyone who helps me fix these few problems. Also, if anyone believes that a distribution other than Kalyway would work better with my current setup, please let me know. I already tried iATKOS, and I could not get that system to display a battery meter at all. Once again, thanks!!!

EDIT: I found out that shutdown is a general problem with taruga's new patcher for leopard, so that does not need to be fixed

Well, doesn't really help with any of the above, BUT..

You may want to add these kexts:

Rev6 works very well, and will give you a working Cardbus controller (pcmcia).

roneil4,

I currently have a Dell Latitude D630 and I have been working on myself setup like you. I'm curious to know what distribution you used? I have tried Kalway's and ToH's but have had no luck. I can't fully boot the Kalway DVD, it crashes while loading (It may be a bad DVD so I'll try burning another copy). I can run through the full setup with ToH's, but I cant boot directly of the HD and when I can get it to boot I get a kernal Panic.

I ran the 9a581PostPatch.sh on ToH's install, and it got the system to boot a bit further, but then it ends with another Kernal panic.

I'm curious to know what you did to get everything installed and booting.

Thanks

I have a D630 running a Retail copy of Snow Leopard updated to 10.6.4.

I too don't have working reboot and shutdown. Can someone help out to find a solution? Is there nothing that can be done to fix this in the DSDT or a modified nvidia kext?

Other than that annoyance, I have a 99% working and stable system. I recently got my D630 for $270 after a deal from dellfinancial. Now I see that overstock is also selling the 620s for cheap. These laptops are great little machines and run SL nicely. Maybe someone who knows what they are doing can pick one up cheap and help us all out?
