hdavy2002
Hi all, Here is my situation. I have a toshiba laptop with three partition. I went to dos and delete the last partition which was a logical partition and create a primary partition with id=af. I fired up partition magic and verified it. I started Vmware and osx started to boot up fine. I went to disk utility to format the disk. I had told vmware to use the third partition in the hard drive section. In my computer, I do nto see the drive with AF. I saw my partition in the disk utility. It was in the middle of the 3 partitions i have. I selected that and formeted it as journeled. Then I went to proceed to install on the formated disk and It said I cannot install on this drive. There was a red sign on the disk. I would like to know what I am doing wrong here. I followed the internet advice. I have an Af partition and Disk utility sees it and formats it, but it would not insatll on it. WHY. Any help would be appreciated. Osx works fine in vmware image thnaks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8081-need-help-in-installing/ Share on other sites
tomatoSoup
-How big is the partition? -Can you be more precise about the error message or is the installer *really* this vague about the problem? hdavy2002
-How big is the partition? -Can you be more precise about the error message or is the installer *really* this vague about the problem? Ok here is the details, i am uploading pics of my configuration. In disk part I was unable to create any partition with id=af So i used Partition magic. On a logical partition it does install, but when i do chain0 in boot.ini, i get chain booting error. I think my I am confused with partition, please advise Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8081-need-help-in-installing/#findComment-50417 Share on other sites
ozzie123
When you make a partition for MacOS, make sure that you make it as a DOS partition or FAT32 partition or disk utility on macos can't read it. Azuraeus
partition magic failed initializing something when it formatted the drive, i suggest reformatting the drive using partition magic, or, if you can, the windows disk management.
