knobi
Hi guys, I hate to start a new topic but I am desperate. I have the below rig and I tried to install Xxx_10.4.11 install disc 1.0 I tried MBR partition and the install is sucessful. However after reboot and when it tries to read from the HD, either i get waiting for root device or it hangs on the system/library/casesensitive/loginwindow/appl/ I dont know what I am doing wrong? However, I tried enabling ACHI, STR(POS) and other various combinations, still it cant work. I NEED this badly as my work is taking back my Macbook and I need a mac to finish up my work. And yes, i cant afford to go get a real mac atm. Can anyone help me pls? Ta
BlackCH
try choosing 'Mac OS Extended (journaled)' in the Volume Format option when you format your HD before installing within DiskUtility (a detailed guide is included in the documentation). Do not choose the 'Case Sensitive' option. BTW, your graphic card might be a difficult one for getting qe/ci...

Case sensitive option is the one with capitals right i.e. Journaled and the one that you are suggesting that I try is the lowercased one i.e. journaled? Thanks. Is it possible that my graphics card is preventing it from booting? I appreciate your responses

Is there something that i am missing? I check efi v8 MBR, SSE3, USB drivers... when installing. Is it my 8400GS that is preventing me from installing this thing? SMF
Are you selecting dsmos.kext? This is necessary when using the vanilla kernel. You might also try manually installing pc_efi after the install is complete. SMF
apple apple
Try these settings and see if you get any further, it uses an older kernel and it's not efi, but it flys on my system:
