itisonlyatest
I will PayPal $50 if I can get my sound working. If you don't want the $50 i'll buy you a giftcard or something, you're choice. I'm running iAtkos dualboot with Vista on a Dell Vostro 1500. I know I have a Sigmatel card, how do I found out the vender and device id? Thanks, Chris. I'm running iAtkos dualboot with Vista on a Dell Vostro 1500. I know I have a Sigmatel card, how do I found out the vender and device id? Thanks, Chris. I believe Vostro 1500 uses Sigmatel 9205 Device Id is 76A0, Vendor 8384 Taruga's thread is your best hope to get this working. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859 Leopard patchers don't work for me (.19 and higher) but Tiger kext built by older ones do work for me. I did not see any 9205 codecs -- doesn't mean it won't work though. This thread tells you how to get a Linux codec to patch your sound with Taruga's patcher. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=74937 Taruga deserves donations for all his hard work, give money to him. itisonlyatest
Which version of the HDA Patcher should I use though, there are so many?
wigworm
To find out your device id, boot into your Vista and under Device manager and under audio, look under properties of your Audio device and it will show a string of IDs Device id will follow something like DEV_XXXX (where x is the number) and vender id will be VEN_XXXX (where x is again the number). Quickest way to get your audio working without no fuss and no mess, get your linux codec dump and use the appleHDA patcher. Find the codec dump in this link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859download it and save it in text format. In the same link download the patcher v1.20In your Leopard, drag the codec dump text file and drop it to the patcher and let it run. Reboot and you got audio. If you can't find the codec dump in above link, make one like this:1. download the Ubuntu cd and burn it. 2. Plug in a usb memeory stick. Boot your computer up in Ubuntu cd and in terminal type this:cat /prc/asound/card0/codec#03. it will create the codec dump file, save the file in the USB stick. And now you have your linux codec dump.Let me know if this works for you.dang it, one guy beat me to it. Which version of the HDA Patcher should I use though, there are so many?Use the 1.2 which is the latest one. Works wonder for me. I even got digital in/out working with that. Report back your result. Thanks. There are quite a few codec dump in that link. Your sound card is: SigmaTel STAC9205Open each codec dump and find the one that has the matching id with yours. But generally speaking, it should work at least in stereo mode.

Try manually add your device id in AppleHDA.kext in your system/library/extensions. Put device id in: AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController.kext/Contents/Info.plist

itisonlyatest
I edited the file, and I put 0x838476A0 and it didn't work!Ok I edited it again with: 0x76A08384 and it still did not work. Another think I should post is that when I first installed Leopard in Sound I had Apple HDA audio even though it did not work. After I tried using AppleHDA patcher a few times there is now no AppleHDA audio in sound in system preferences, it doesn't detect any devices. Is there anyway to reset it back to Apple HDA Audio, maybe that will work?

Ok, last attempt: Download Delish's Kext helper (search the forum and you shall find) Download Plist pro Drag AppleHDA.kext from system/library/extensions to desktop. Edit the kext on desktop using plist pro. NOW REMOVE ALL DEVICE ID EXCEPT the one you added which your own device id. Save the change. Drag and drop the appleHDA.kext you edited on the desktop into Kext helper, type in your administraive password. Let it install. Reboot. If you still don't get sound, I give up. itisonlyatest
Your solution still didn't work. I hate to say this but as far as it stands right now, USB sound may be your only solution at this moment: Turtle Beach Amigo (works out of box, really good quality sound with digital out as well). I got one laying around I plan to sell it on ebay. Until some genius figure out a way to fix the problem for all Sigmatel9205 users.

wigworm
So how would that work, I buy it and the sound plays out of there?Plug and play, work right out of box. No driver no patch, nothing need to be done. Tested on both Tiger and Leopard works like a charm with line out and Mic in. It comes with a Headset. I've tested with skype, mic quality first class.Of course you would need to plug your speakers in that thing. hehe, goes without saying.
