p3n5t3r
So as some of you may have read I have some problems with left channel audio from my onboard ALC861. Luckily I also own an USB creative MP3 sound card. It works superb, but in order not to have to change my speakers plug every time I boot windows or mac I connected the speakers to both cards with a Y cable. But that does not solve my problem cause Mac OS still sends out the signal through the onboard HD Audio card. I set it to mute in the MIDI app and selected the usb card as default but that did not help I still get the high static sound and cracking audio on the left channel. If I plug the speakers only into the USB card the sound is nearly superb! All I am looking for is a way to disable HDAudio altogether in mac os, as mine only causes trouble. Callysto
Disabling it in your computers BIOS should have done the trick it sound like more of a hardware issue than anything else
p3n5t3r
Well if I disable it in bios, I have to enable it every time I boot, that is similar to changing speakers output. If it was a hardware issue, why does it work in windows?

jjduro
just delete the appleac97.kext what we need is a good working solution for alc861. Not a lousy solution like having an external usb soundcard on a laptop!!!!
