danbraniff
Hello all, I am new to OX X kinda sort of I guess, anyways I finally got my airport card working the DWL-G510 using the kext from 10.4.5 I beileve and for some reson my internet when using the wireless seems terribly slow, however when using it in windows or Linux it seems to be fine. I get my regular 5mbs but In OSX i get a little 200kbs. This is the only thing that is holding me back from erasing my windows drive completely. Any thoughts? bibendum
I wonder if the kext is Universal or PPC running under Rosetta - that'd probably slow it down. Â Patrick
Wrenbird
well I'm not sure if it would help at all, but you could try a repair permissions.
danbraniff
I tried repairing the permissions and that did not work. Â Â what he means is if it's a power pc kernel extension(the one making your card operate), it's emulated, and thus slowed down. But I'm not sure that would slow it down so much. This is an odd problem.

Azurael
You can't run kexts in Rosetta
Wrenbird
If you didn't install any network patches from your installation disk, then you should put in the disk and look in system/installation/packages and find the network patcher. Run it, reboot and see what happens  You could also try taking the card out, start the machine with it out, then shut down and put it back in. I've had instances with a PCI ethernet controller where it wasn't functioning properly, and doing that fixed it.

Wrenbird
DON'T DO IT!!! I did that, and my card was no longer recognized, rendering it useless. you'll have to replace IO802111Family.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext, the ones you had previously.
