RaveGamer
When I boot up the Leopard disc (Kalyway 10.5.1), it loads to a point where it sits there repeating a message that says "Still waiting for root device". Why is that? Setup: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P (Rev. 2.0) 4GB RAM Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz EVGA GeForce 8600GT 512MB* 120GB IDE HDD -2 partitions, 1 for XP, another empty for OSx86 IDE DVD-RW burner (*I know, I need to load the 10.5.2 kexts into 10.5.1 to get it working, but if I can't even install Leopard then I can't exactly fix this.) gerbenvandijk
but both cdrom and hard disk on the same cable, it might help (ps a simple search would have given you a lot of info)
RaveGamer
but both cdrom and hard disk on the same cable, it might help (ps a simple search would have given you a lot of info) I was searching a couple of minutes ago. None of the solutions helped me. They are on the same cable, in fact, my motherboard only has one input for an IDE cable. But I do have a lot of SATA ports... wmarsh
(*I know, I need to load the 10.5.2 kexts into 10.5.1 to get it working, but if I can't even install Leopard then I can't exactly fix this.) Get a USB drive. A USB enclosure for an old IDE drive runs about $10. Install Tiger to the partition you intend for Leopard. Use disk utility in Tiger to restore the Install DVD to your USB disk. Use Tiger to install the kexts you know you need to the image of the install DVD on the USB disk. Repair permissions. Then boot off the USB disk and install Leopard over the Tiger installation. BartNijland
Had the same problem, fixed it by using a IDE Drive on Master and DVD Drive on the same IDE cable, only then as Slave
