MuffinFlavored
Hello. I am running Mac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard on a quad core, with all 4 cores functional using the ToH DVD. Simple as pie. Plop in the DVD, format my disk, run a command, and I'm done. I see all this Kalaway, vanilla, EFI, BrazilMac stuff. I didn't have to deal with any of that. Are there any differences? performance? Any information is appreciated. Thank you!
LS8
The new DVDs just make installation easier. If you have fully working system, you don't need them.

So, I will not see any performance penalties? I read the iATKOS FAQ, and it sounds awesome! Unnecessary code removed, SS3 instructions only. Would it be worth while to replace my ToH install with iATKOS? Also, how can I check the kernel version on my current install?
jsz0
Also, how can I check the kernel version on my current install? uname -ra in Terminal The big advantage of EFI is you can safely install software updates that include a new kernel without borking up your install. Some people say the vanillia kernel is more stable, faster, and more compatible. The only real difference I noticed was my system performs much better under a heavy disk IO load since switching to EFI. Not sure why EFI would effect it but you can't argue with results.
