I have a Griffin iMic (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic) which is a USB sound card with line out and line/mic in. The in is the same port but there is a switch to select between the two different levels. This is absolute 100% plug and play with OS X. I have all the original stuff it came with just not the packaging and its mint condition. 20 USD Shipped anywhere in the US.
