Problem restoring OS X from backup on iPod

Hey guys,

I've got a .dmg backup of a clean install of OS X that I made incase I ever need it, and it's saved it onto my 30gb ipod. Problem is, when I boot off the install DVD, and open the disk utility, I can't mount the iPod. And when I try to open it from the file menu, the ipod doesn't show up in the finder

Can anyone help me out? I'm hoping it's a quick and easy fix, otherwise I'm gonna have to reinstall all over again and restore from that :(

iPod is formatted to windows if that makes any difference

Thanks

Edit: "iPod is formatted to windows"... I just answered my own question. OS X won't install to fat, so it won't let me mount it. Don't I look like an idiot now

When you open the disk utility does it show on the left side?

if it does , just click on it then click the tab restore.

For source drag the iPod from the left into the edit box for source.

Then drag the your main hard drive to the Destination edit box.

See image.( I just drag some stuff into them)
