Hi,

I just got Leopard installed, with the SSE3 toh kernel and EFIv8, ATI Radeon X1950, Azalia audio. skge network and JMicron stuff working. When I'm working on this machine, the machine completely locks up and doesnt respond to anything anymore.

Also, every first time I boot my machine, the skge kernel module gives a panic. I dl/ed the leopard version of it and I still get these errors.

Anyone has some tips were to look for this odd things?

Thanks in advance.

Michiel

Same thing here. Working up to 20 minutes, but there's nothing to see in log files (at least, /var/log ) but there is no other way to kill the apps but to reset the entire machine.

My machine is a amd x2 4200+, toh kernel with sse3. 8800 gts with support. Installed with the Kalyway bootcd to make the harddisk bootable, installed with the ToH disk which includes nvinject.kext. Did not use pc_efi because it booted. Everything seems to be working. Network, audio, coverflow, itunes. But the hanging is annoying.

A side point, I used the updater app, that updated Itunes, quicktime and something else (will edit later) and after that update with a reboot the hanging became more of an issue, with the pc hanging everytime I wanted to download a file, or opening three programs. Playing audio was an instant hangup.

Booting safe mode or booting single user mode and fsck the disk, or booting into the installer and do a repair permissions has not helped so far. My normal boot is just "-v CPUS=1" but that isn't any help at the moment.

If anyone needs more info, let us know.

System specs:

Motherboard: DFI lanparty-UT Nforce 4 Ultra chipset

Videocard: xfx 8800 gts 320MB

Processor: AMD Athlon X2 4200+ s939

Harddisk: Maxtor 250GB sata

Raid controller: Promise 8450 (not supported on osx)

Sound: Realtek based 7.1

I just updated to 10.5.1 an hour ago and it looked like the freezes were over, but I just got another one :)

Nothing in my logs, nothing weird doing, just doing some ssh and Adium stuff.

Should I update some kexts or something? Did nothing weird with the install although..

Another update..

I replaced the TOH kernel with the native 9.1.0 kernel, updated smbios and dsmos kexts and changed the NX-bit in the BIOS to enable. Works great, except for the kernel panic 1 in 2 reboots because of the nic driver (skge.kext, leopard build).. Also, the system looks like to live a bit longer between each lockup (timing it now).

And the search continues..

You may want to check your screen saver options as well as your energy saving. I was getting the same problem until I put the sleep options to Never. The problem stopped. On my AMD hackint0sh the sleep mode doesn´t work either. The only problem I have right now is with the screen saver. It simply won`t show up. There is no screen saver. Otherwise the machine works fine.

Thats an idea, but the freezes happen when I'm busy working on this system..

Same problem here... done on Intel Core 2 installed with flat image -> PC EFI v8 -> vanilla 10.5.1 kernel process. I do have a HD2900XT.

I find a sure way to trigger the problem is to enable dock magnification and just move the mouse back and forwards on the dock for about 20 seconds... will usually freeze. Any help would be greatly appreciated, the system is perfect apart from this damn thing.

I've been having the same thing but it only happens when I have the Nvidia drivers w/ Titan or Nvinject loaded. Random freeze completely locking up the computer. However when I remove all the Nvidia kexts and the Titan or Nvinject it never locks up - but I'm stuck in VESA.

I just installed PC_Efi version 8 yesterday and that actually got rid of the random boot-up kernel panic (seemed to be related to APIC ???). But still doesn't help the video issue.

It's so frustrating considering how many people have their GeForce 5200 working successfully :)

EDIT: I'm also using the TOH 10.5.1 AMD release

I dont know if this is the same issue or not but my leopard is doing something similar to this. I disabled both screensaver and energy saver and after a while the screensaver loads up and then within 30 mins-1hr it freezes up. I am running kalyway 10.5.2 and the specs are below. Any advice? Excuse the double post if this is posted somewhere already.
