Hello all!

I am new here but am quite an experienced computer tinkerer :)

My only problem is which patch to download and apply to my 10.4.3 dmg. I have read so many different forum posts all referring to different patches, I thought I should just ask myself so I don't do anything wrong!

I looked at the profit42.com guide (http://www.profit42.com/guides.php?id=1), and it says you need JaS 1111a Generic Patch v4.2b PPF.

Is this correct as of today? (Things move so quickly around here!)

Does this patch offer maximum compatability, or is there an older one which is better?

Thanks for your help!

In my experence, the JaS patch is the best because it not only patches the installer (TCM stuff) but also has all the Maxxuss updates with it so you end up with a 8F1111A system not just 8F1111.

For all those trying to find the patch the only place i have found so far that still has it is:

[Violation of DMCA]

It is good!

I have 'an' installer dvd from a friend, i dont know what image he used, unpatched or not. how can i tell what i have?....im a total mac n00b

How many images are on that dvd of your friend? It sholud be only one... And if your friend installed it, it should be already patched.

If it's a .dmg file (about 2.81GB), it's probably the original image, and that is not patched. If this is the case, use the patch mentioned above.

[Edit]

Sorry, should read before posting: You have an dvd! sorry!

Check the md5 Hash of the file with md5summer. so you know what image you have

Here the Sums:

3665735d1b651b5a4ad15ca59ab40142 *macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg
f086fa1cdd01013c9787dfd1e92c2078 *macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvdunpatched.iso
16139ae55ac283c114a5231f85c3f54c *macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvdpatched.iso

"patched" means patched with JaS patch. If no sum fits, you maybe have an own build (wespley-patched or something).

Greetings, G-Man
