Hi all, ill keep this short as I dont want to take up to much of your time. I'm completly confused and out of touch with how far the OS X X86 projects have really come and am desperatly needing help before i try and fail on my own here.

My hardware consists of:

FoxConn X38 Express Mobo (X38 + ICH9R), Intel Q6600 Quad CPU, 3GB DDR2 Ram, Nvidia 8800GT 512MB PCI.

I would like to run leopard but tiger will also do, however im just so dam lost with all these distro's and patches etc.

I'd really like to be put in the right direction to get me off the ground with at least a bootable osx, support for hardware is just a bonus but I wont say no to it :(

So if anyone could lend a hand and help me choose the right Distro (just the name, ill find it elseware)

Thanks a million

My inclination would be to start with the ToH RC2 release and start from there. Once that's running, see about getting PC_EFI to work so you can run all Vanilla Kernal and mostly Vanilla Kexts. Not sure about the 8800gt, but in a few weeks time I'll have mine so by then hopefully someone will be able to answer that

I have a very similar machine and agree ToH is your best bet.

You can run either with EFI or without but like mentioned your GT is going to be the problem. (G92 based aren't supported yet.)
