Magice
Is there any way to install efi 8 w/o dvd drive? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75849-any-way-to-install-efi-8-wo-dvd-drive/ Share on other sites
josh256
A DVD drive/boot has never been needed (obviously you need an existing install if you're not booting from DVD). unzip EFI to some dir (eg. "/iamefi") reboot into single user mode (-s) *do not* remount the filesystem run the efi install script Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75849-any-way-to-install-efi-8-wo-dvd-drive/#findComment-535733 Share on other sites

josh256
That works 100% for MBR: no dvd boot, no secondary install necessary. If you have an existing MBR install you can easily add MBR EFI <period> GUID is another story, you will need to perform the dd operations from a second drive/installation if not use a DVD as it ejects the drive at one point Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75849-any-way-to-install-efi-8-wo-dvd-drive/#findComment-535748 Share on other sites
