johnnyICON
Well I took a look at my BIOS settings and turned off USB KB Storage Support & USB Mouse Support and Viola it works, my USB mouse does not work, however, but that's what turning off USB Mouse support does, correct? Secondly, I don't have the ability to turn on Numlock or Scrolllock, so i'll asume that's a regular PC feature. In any case, thanks for the help. No, the BIOS setting for keyboard and mouse is for operating systems without USB drivers, like DOS, I don't remember if NT had USB support, also for bootmanagers like lilo, darwin.Secondly, I don't have the ability to turn on Numlock or Scrolllock, so i'll asume that's a regular PC feature. In any case, thanks for the help. Let me re-check. EDIT: Yeah, num lock and scroll lock lights dow not lite/change, numlock ins not lighted but I got numbers instad of cursor movements (arrows, home, end, page up and page down). These are my BIOS settings: USB ports Enabled USB Keyboard support Disabled USB Mouse support Disabled USB Storage support Enabled Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7554-ps2-keyboard-not-working/page/2/#findComment-75479 Share on other sites
johnnyICON
USB Keyboard support Disabled I don't have this option which is strange since we have the same motherboard. Whereabouts in the BIOS is it? I found mine in Advanced Settings. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7554-ps2-keyboard-not-working/page/2/#findComment-76192 Share on other sites

pupis
Hi ! Yes the simpliest solution is to use USB Kboard and mouse.Just a word about the full PS2 solution, I tried and it seems less precise, in fact my cursor moved 4 or 3 pixels by 3 pixel (on a MS intellimouse explorer) Here is the detailled solution, and it costs nothing - open a terminal (found in applications/utilities) - type "sudo -s" (without the quotes) - type your password - type "nano /etc/rc" - add at the end of the file, just between "fi" and "exit0", that two lines: (EDIT: You can quickly go to the end of the file using "Control + V" ) kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext kextload /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext - Save the modified file exiting nano with "control + x" and answering YES (with the key Y) to the "Save modified buffer question" Hope it'll help EDIT: It only works if you already have PS2 kexts installed, and with a mixing PS2/USB problem esta fue la solucion para que empize a funcionar el teclado de mi SONY VAIO pcg-v505fp mil gracias por la compartirlo !!!! Grafdude
My keyboard nor my mouse worked plugged in ps/2. I have an Asus A8N-E and the HLC says ps/2 is not supported for this motherboard. I'm pretty sure there must be someway to make the ps/2 ports worked. So how am I suppose to type in terminal if my keyboard doesn't work cause unfortunately I dont have a usb keyboard at hand. Funny that my keyboard and mouse worked fine during setup which prooves that ps/2 is functioning. Is there a way to run terminal without loading the OS, i'm figuring keyboard could work there. SmilE
u don't need this utility anymore! under osx, go to system preferences, International. Then under "input", select keyboard, it'll activate a virtual keyboard! let's try i've already gave a solution to this problem... if u have a PC, the better way is to buy a USB keyboard. Or if u have a notebook (like me ), follow my solution Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7554-ps2-keyboard-not-working/page/2/#findComment-102545 Share on other sites
